Our Sunday meetings are at 10.30 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. The morning meeting is very much focused on children; and includes our Sunday School classes for all ages from 3 - 16. For the grown-ups, we hold a variety of different kinds of morning meetings: for example, some Bible teaching mornings, some mornings of prayer, or mornings with a special focus, such as mission.

A recent Baptismal Service

Our main Sunday meeting is at 6.00 p.m., and is a celebration of praise and worship to which all are welcome. There is opportunity for prayer ministry at the end of each meeting.

A smaller group also meets on Sunday mornings at 10.30 a.m. This has more the character of a "house group" meeting in the church; it tends to alternate between weeks of Bible teaching by the pastor, and weeks of devotion, prayer, and sharing joys and concerns. There is a small class for children, though they also sometimes meet together with the adults as one fellowship group.

Signing for the deaf can be available morning or evening.

A number of house groups meet during the week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. House groups are an opportunity to get to know a smaller number of people in greater depth; to talk together, pray together, share what is happening, good or bad, in each others' lives, and support one another. The Monday evening group is specially for new Christians.

Bible Teaching Classes

From time to time, we run series of more in-depth Bible teaching, led by the pastor. These are attended by people from a number of local churches, who want to deepen their understanding of the whole Bible. The talks cover, usually, one book of the Bible a week, and are designed to help everyone to be able to read the Bible more intelligently for themselves, to get out of it what is there but might not be as obvious on the surface, and to know how to make sense of all the different parts of the Bible. New people are welcome to join in at any point! If you want to know when the next course of Bible classes is starting, or any other details about these classes, email bibleclass@ilkestonbaptistchurch.org

Alpha courses are 10-week courses designed to provide a place where people can raise and talk over any questions they have about life and faith, without feeling under any pressure or being pushed to be "religious"! They are now run in many thousands of churches in Britain and around the world, as well as in schools, universities, community halls and prisons. Queen Street runs regular Alpha courses, and anyone living in the Ilkeston area who wants an opportunity to discuss questions about Christianity and life is most welcome - contact the pastor by emailing pastor@ilkestonbaptistchurch.org for details of when the next course is starting, or if you're interested in coming along. If you live elsewhere, the Alpha organisation will let you know of a course being run near you; contact alpha.office@htb.org.uk or click on the Alpha website at alphacourse.org .

Prayer

Every morning, Christians from a number of local churches, including Queen Street, come together at 6.30 a.m. to pray for Ilkeston and the surrounding area. Contact pastor Michael (by emailing pastor@ilkestonbaptistchurch.org) for news of how we have seen recent answers to prayer following these meetings!
